The guys on Australian R/C Helicopters Online reported the unofficial speed record made by Kev flying a Megavolt 800. Click on to see the pics of the unofficial record holding heli, some info, and a video of a warm up flight that broke the original (unofficial) record also.
Before anyone says it, I’ll say it as did the pilot of this awesome heli and the observers of the flights. Yes, it is Unofficial. Yes, there obviously has to be rules to be followed and regulations to meet. But I have to admit after watching the following video of a warm up flight and seeing the pics of this heli, there can be a speed record (Officially) made by these guys again. Regardless, its great to see this kind of thing happening at 257 km/h. Anyway, here is the video of a warm up flight made which was estimated to be 250 km/h. The previous unofficial record made a few weeks prior was 248 km/h. Enjoy everyone.
Speed pass is at
2:30. Running 1750rpm HS and +-13degs pitch.
This is the warm up flight. The next flight a Garmin GPS attached to the heli recorded a top speed of 257kmh!
